J’avais trouvé l’idée intéressante et j’ai voulu en faire une version moins schématique que la sienne. Ce qui m’a plu dans cette idée est la création d’un groupe au sein d’individus : chaque oiseau avait son objectif initial mais, à chaque nouvelle rencontre, à chaque fois que le groupe grandit, l’objectif change pour tous les oiseaux concernés. En revanche, je n’ai pas aimé le fait que tous les oiseaux se regroupent très rapidement : le monde que j’utilise est cyclique, donc les oiseaux se croisent obligatoirement et, du fait de la petite taille du monde, il n’existe plus qu’un seul groupe contenant tous les oiseaux en assez peu de temps. J’ai alors choisi de rendre ma réalisation interactive en donnant la possibilité aux oiseaux de se repousser et donc de scinder le groupe final. Le spectateur peut alors en émettant un bruit assez fort, frapper dans ses mains par exemple, faire fuir les oiseaux et les empêcher de se regrouper pendant un petit moment. Je voulais également initialement utiliser une caméra pour rajouter des prédateurs à l’algorithme de flocking, mais un problème de développement m’a empêché d’aboutir à cela.
L’idée que je veux faire passer avec mon travail m’est venue pendant la recherche sur l’algorithme de flocking. Cet algorithme est parfois utilisé pour simuler des mouvements de foule pour des êtres humains. J’ai fait naturellement une analogie entre les oiseaux et les êtres humains : malgré nos différences, nous nous ressemblons tous. Nous nous rassemblons facilement et voguons vers un objectif commun, mais nous nous dispersons aussi facilement. Un rien, un claquement de doigt peut tout faire vaciller et le groupe se dissout. Aussi facilement que le précédent, un nouveau groupe se forme, pas forcément avec les mêmes individus, ni le même objectif, et le cycle reprend. Le titre choisi fait précisément référence à la facilité avec laquelle le groupe peut se dipserser mais il permet également au spectateur ne connaissant pas le travail de comprendre que quelque chose va se passer en faisant du bruit.
